The project for a two-storey villa of approximately 800 sq m is located on a rectangular plot next to the sea of a previously demolished building in a sparsely populated residential area of Elounda.
Given the presence of an open plan, there was a need to ensure maximum privacy, without obstructing the openings to the outdoor spaces of the verandas, garden and swimming pool.
The architecture has been designed as two overlapping volumes: a transparent lower floor, communicating directly with the outdoor spaces and intended for the living space and support services, and an upper floor for the bedrooms enclosed in an “architectural envelope” that ensures visual shielding for the verandas and large windows and limits solar radiation.
