The project for a two-story villa of approximately 800 sqm is located on a rectangular and streetside lot of a previously demolished building in a sparsely populated residential neighborhood of Heraklion. Given the presence of open plan, there was a need to guarantee maximum privacy but without impeding the openings towards the outside areas of terraces, garden and swimming pool.
The architecture has been conceived as two overlaid volumes: a transparent lower floor, communicating directly with the external spaces and intended for the living area and support services, and an upper floor for the bedrooms enclosed in an “architectural skin” which ensures visual screening for the terraces and large windows and limits solar radiation.
